About Us

Founded in 1995, the St. Louis Women’s Chorale is composed of professional and amateur singers dedicated to the performance of quality music by, for, and about women—given to and shared with everyone.

The Chorale has performed throughout the United States (including a 2005 appearance at Carnegie Hall), in Great Britain, and in Italy. In 1999 the Chorale placed third at the International Musical Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales.

As it begins its sixteenth season, the Chorale will be expanding its role as a voice for issues affecting women today. Under the excellent leadership of its new Artistic Director Kathy Lawton Brown, the Chorale will not only continue its tradition of excellence but also will seek to be a more powerful voice for issues and concerns that affect women both in the United States and throughout the world.

In 2010 and 2011, the Chorale is celebrating yet another important new change: its association, as Ensemble in Residence, with Maryville University. This relationship with the University, besides expanding the Maryville’s musical presence as well as creating new opportunities for the Chorale, has also recreated the wonderful mix of ages and voices the Chorale experienced in its formative years: once again the wonderful sound of women’s voices spanning as many as five decades will fill concert halls and churches in the St. Louis area and beyond.
